Moto Guzzis lend themselves to wide range of custom configurations, but they always keep their core essence intact. The Transverse V-Twin engine married to the long and flat frame rails create a distinct silhouette, but from there you can build pretty much anything you want on top and it would probably look great, however, not many Guzzi customs come as pretty as this 850 “TTre” from Officine RossoPuro.
The story began back in 1993 when Filippo Barbacane came to Pescara in Italy and began his great adventure into the world of Motorcycles. Fillipo’s passions are not restricted to the engineering aspect of a build, he also has a desire to capture the innate character of the machine and to create something with artistic merit and beauty, and this is reflected in the bikes he builds today. While his styles vary from Sports to Enduro, Retro to Modern prototypes, all carry the same aesthetic principles and vision.
This bike is based on a T3 850 and was a personal build for Fillipo who wanted to take very modern technology and equipment, like adjustable suspension and 17 inch tubeless rims, and combine them with retro looks, but using taut lines, instead of the rounded shapes that were in use when the bike was originally built.
The bike benefits from the stability of the Tonti frame, with excellent braking from twin 320mm discs and four-pot Brembos. 45mm Marzocchi forks keep things firmly planted at the front and the whole bike has been on a strict weight loss programme, all of which makes her responsive, sporty and aggressive to ride.
Overall it’s amazing how retro the bike still looks with so many modern enhancements and this is probably down to the detailing and finishes on the bike, most of which is hand crafted, including all the bodywork, the saddle, lighting and electrics. Whether you’re a Guzzi fan or not (and we don’t know many who aren’t) this is a lovely machine.
