American Flat Track heads to Texas Motor Speedway on Sept. 23 For the penultimate round of the championship. The Lone Star Half-Mile also marks a return to a new market after a long absence, the first visit for the series in the Dallas/Fort Worth area since 1999.
The clay track with 12-degree banking will be the home race for Jared Mees’ team, so the three-time Grand National Champion will be looking for a “W” in legendary tuner Kenny Tolbert’s backyard.
The last time the series raced in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Joe Kopp won the Mile event in the GNC (now AFT Twins) class on his Harley-Davidson. Prior to that Steve Morehead secured the GNC victory in 1995 on the Half-Mile circuit.
