The series leaves the desert and travels west to Sacramento for the famed Sacramento Mile on Saturday, May 20. Located in one of flat track’s traditional hotbeds, the Sacto Mile is rich with history and has been the site of many thrilling down-to-the-wire battles on the twins.
Last season, Bryan Smith Racing scored a record sixth straight GNC1 (now AFT Twins) win at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds on his trusty No. 42 Crosley/Howerton Kawasaki USA Ninja 650. In 2017, all eyes will be on the defending Grand National Champion to see if he can score lucky number seven on his new steed – the No.1 Indian Motorcycle Scout FTR750. Looking to spoil the champ’s streak will be Kenny Coolbeth, Jr. on the Harley-Davidson XG750R. The veteran busted Smith’s Springfield Mile streak in 2016 and came just shy of the win in Sacramento.
In the GNC2 class (now AFT Singles), Tristan Avery took the top spot on the box over eventual class champion Ryan Wells Racing and Jeffery Lowery.
