Bike Show Kick Starts the Summer
Despite the best efforts of the weather the 26th Royston & District Motorcycle Club Show went off without a hitch this year, with over 2000 bikers turning up to what is becoming known as the kick start to the summer motorcycling season.
Bikers from as far as Kent came again to the RDMCC show last Wednesday (15th) and were not disappointed with Honda, Kawasaki, BMW, Royal Enfield, Suzuki and Harley Davidson all in attendance. The trade stands were filled with bikers checking out some of the newest bikes on the road, and after the best deals they could get for that “new toy”.
The show which is in its 26th year, started from humble beginnings at the old Red Lion pub in Kneesworth where the RDMCC would come together each year to show off their bikes. That show quickly grew, and has developed into one night of 4 hours in a bikers paradise. The RDMCC use the show to not only promote their club, but to the raise money for local charities. This year they have raised an impressive £9300 which will be split between the Meldreth Manor School and the East Anglian Air Ambulance. Both charities were represented at the show, and were overwhelmed by the response they received.
Steve Coningsby, show co-ordinator, said “the show is FANTASIC tonight, the threat of a bit of rain has kept the numbers down, but I cant move in the traders paddock from all the bikers!…Its great to know that year on year we just keep seeing more and more bikers coming to the show. Seeing all these bikes is great, but even better for the charities we support. The kids from the school love coming down in the evening, and we are told they talk about it for months before and after.”

28/03/2013Hi Bike shed,
Looking forward ton your event in Bricklane in May. We build Cafe Racers over in Wembley very close to the Ace Cafe. We have two bikes in ‘ work in progress stage’ and wondered what would be the chances of having them in your event please. One is a Cafe Racer CBX 1000 of which we will be replicating 4 and the Other is a Harris magnum GSX 1100 of which we will be building 6. Be great for us to get a reception on the bikes with a crowd about.
If your could kindly let us know if it would be possible we would appreciate it greatly. If not we’ll push to get one ready to drive up and just say hello I guess.
Many thanks
Will

29/03/2013Hi Will, Thanks for writing. Send me an email to [email protected] and let’s discuss. We are getting very tight for space, but we want to try and keep it inclusive.
