This lovely Hinckley Triumph cafe racer was originally destined to be a brat-style build, but Shaun from Down & Out Cafe Racers up in Yorkshire had a change of plan after the rear had been chopped. Shaun's been building bobbers, choppers and cafe racers for a few years, so he made getting this T100 back into cafe trim sound easy, and just being "down to bending a new set of Manx style tubes and slotting everything in". Hmmm. Easy for Shaun, maybe. The pics show how much work is actually involved, from the machined rear sets to the fork brace and fender. There are plenty of quality details and touches to admire. Although the rear of the bike is all new, the front of the frame is still as per the original bike so all the numbers remain. The tank is an aluminium sprint item, the battery box and seat units are both one-off items, while the wheels were rebuilt around the hubs using lightweight alu rims. In Shaun's own words; "there's way two much stuff on the bike to go on about... I can say this the bike rides so good, it has to be one of the best bikes I have built so far, and only 7 weeks to build it". It's a great looking classic cafe racer, built around a classic heart to a high standard in a very short space of time, and we're really pleased to share it here on The Bike Shed.
