KingBike Ducati

KingBike Ducati
Giorgio Mantovani worked for nine years in the World Superbike Championship before opening his shop, KingBike, in Travagliato, near Brescia in Italy, in 2007. As you know, we just can't resists a lightweight Ducati-based cafe racer on The Bike Shed, and this lovely example is built from a 1995 Monster which Giorgio rescued from a rusty fate under the Februrary snow last year. Over the best part of a year of Sundays being disassembled and rebuilt the transformation is now complete and Giorgio is very pleased with the end result; the KB001. The bike was completely stripped down so the frame could be sandblasted and powdercoated, while the running gear and chassis parts were swapped out for racing items, and all the original hardware has been galvanized. Most of the parts in the KB001 are original pieces, painted, polished re-worked. The complete exhaust was handcrafted by RC67. Low clip-ons provide a racy riding position, while Enduro tyres provide grip for more rugged terrain than the average racetrack. The seat has been upholstered to reflect the vintage inspiration behind the build. An open clutch cover gives that dell tell rattle that all Ducatistas expect from Italian motorcycles from Bologna. World Superbike spec slipper clutch delivers the power to the final drive and helps smooth out downshifts on the torquey litre twin, but like many builds this one isn't quite finished, and Giorgio intends further engine mods to boost the power delivery . We can't help but love well put together Ducati customs, and this one is a beauty. Email Giorgio HERE or check out his website and Facebook.
