Old & New Extremes
By Anthony van Someren - 22 Mar 12
Most of the projects on websites like The Shed, EXIF, Pipeburn & Co are a mix of old ideas and modern engineering, but this lovely machine takes the biscuit, combining the extremes of a modern (ish) GSXR 1052 engine with GSXF 1400 headers, Earls oil cooler, Bandit carbs, and stage 3 Dynajet kit with a 1958 Norton Wideline frame (braced - heavily I assume!) sporting a classic Norton 5 gallon tank and Dunstall alu race seat.
Yokes are one-off, hand-finished items, front end comes from a ZX9R and the rear a ZRX12.
I completely love this bike. The looks and style of something from the late 1950s with a fire-breathing heart and suspended well enough to take advantage of all that raw power. Maybe Cafe Muscle is the best description, but whatever you call it, I want one.
Hopefully we'll see this beauty - at meet the owner, Steve - at the SMC track day at Brands Hatch this Spring/Summer.
