Spirit Ducati GT1000
By Anthony van Someren - 31 Jan 12
Ok. Calm down, calm down... Tim & Kev have just taken delivery of a mint condition, low miles Ducati Sport Classic GT1000, and it's going to get the Spirit treatment. To say I'm looking forward to this build is a bit of an understatement.
The standard GTs are already pretty, but have a lot of heavy junk for the skip, and plenty of opportunity to upgrade the looks, suspension and performance, as well as adding that Spirit touch.
Toby, the owner, showed Tim & Kev a beautiful Porsche 356 ‘Outlaw’ he’d seen in Fuel Magazine and that has formed the basis of the design of his bike, but it also borrows from other style icons such as the Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato and Jaguar XK120.
The bike, an immaculate low mileage model arrived on Saturday from Cornwall and within minutes was stripped of many of the standard parts.
The Spirit tail (as used on S2) gives us an idea of the overall look and work has started on the new version.
The frame rails work in our favour for once!
Well, you all know how we feel about the Sport Classic range here in The Shed, so you can expect a properly gorgeous bike to emerge over the coming months... Bring it on. More from Tim & Kev at Spirit here
